ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR PORTMORE PONY OF THE YEAR SHOW THIS WEEKEND

Pony competitors will be out in force this weekend vying for places in the £5,500 Portmore Pony Of The Year Show. The show is open to all ponies, but only those who have qualified status will be eligible for the prizemonies on offer. Starting on Friday evening at approx 5pm the schedule includes The Houston Family 128cm classes for the Under 8’s and Under 10’s.These will be followed by further 128cm classes including The Concept Group 70cm, the Trendy 80cm and Wilsons Auctions 90cm classes.

A very busy Saturday is forecast when the action starts at 9.30am again with the 128cm ponies. This time it is the turn of the very competitive under 12 riders participating in the HorseAbout.com 1m and The Equestrian Store 1.10m classes.

The 138cm ponies have their chance to compete in a variety of classes from 80cm to 1.20m, including the Barclay Communications 90cm. and The Kennedy Family 1.10m.

The 148cm ponies classes range from‘The horseboxireland.com 90cm class’ to the 1.30cm Grand Prix.

MORE THAN £20,000 ON OFFER FOR PORTMORE HORSES NEXT WEEK

The horse jumping section at Portmore takes on a very serious slant over the next week with more than £20,000 in prizemoney on offer. Competitors aiming for next weeks Portmore Horse of the Year Show will be pleased to note that there will be some additional horse warm up classes this Friday (6^th Nov) in advance of the pony classes. Starting at 10am there will be a 90cm, a 1m and a 1.10m.

The Portmore Horse Champions League Final takes place on Sunday 8^th with £2, 500 on offer. Classes here range from 80cm to 1.30m. Non qualified horses may compete, but only qualified animals will be eligible for the prizefunds on offer

Amateurs

Amateur Riders will have their final chance to qualify for the Horse of The Year Show as class 7 on Sunday will also be a direct qualifier, with the top 8 horses going through.

Horse of Year Show

The Horse of the Year Show itself starts on Wednesday 11^th November and runs for five days finishing on Sunday 11^th November. Featuring a host of classes including the various prestigious finals, mini Grand Prix and National Grand Prix classes this show is without doubt the biggest indoor event in the Ulster Region this season.
